Farrier, vaccinations and worming come round on a cycle for every horse in the yard. Set each cycle up once, tick off a whole round in one go when the farrier or vet has been, and Nose shows you who is due next.
Step by step
- Open the health register. Go to Care in the menu and switch Tasks to Health. It opens on All types: every horse that is overdue or due in the coming week, whatever the job.
- Pick a job. Tap Farrier, Vaccination or Worming to see every horse for it, grouped into This round, This month, Later, No date and Not set up. This round is what you book now.
- Set up the cycles the first time. If the whole herd was done on the same day, tap Add event, choose the Type, set the Date to that day, tap Whole yard, set Repeat to Recurring, check the interval and tap Save. For one horse: tap its name (or Set cycle), and on its Care tab under Health cycles (reminders) tick the job, fill in Every how many days and Last done, then tap Save profile.
- Book a visit (optional). When the farrier is booked for a set day, tap Add event and give it that future date. It is saved as Planned, and the register shows that date instead of the calculated one.
- Tick off the round. Once the visit has happened, horses in This round are already ticked; add or untick any others. Tap Tick off the round, pick the Date performed and confirm. Admins can also tick Record this round’s cost too, choose the service and the amount, and choose Owner or Stable as the payer for each horse. Instructors don't see costs at all.
- Just one horse? If it's due, tap Mark done on its row, check the Date done and tap Save. If it wasn't due yet, tick only that horse and use Tick off the round.
- Vet, dentist or physio visit. Tap Add event and choose the type. It goes into the horse's history, with no cycle and no reminders. A dentist visit books the next check-up a year ahead by default; change Repeat if you don't want it.
- Look back. Switch All to Done to see every recorded visit in the yard, newest first. Admins can Export CSV for the vet or the accountant.
If something's off
- A horse sits under No date and nobody is reminded. Its cycle has no last visit to count from. Tap Mark done and enter the date it was last done, or book the next visit with Add event.
- All types is empty, but you know some horses aren't set up. All types only lists what is due soon. Pick a job and open Not set up to see which horses have no cycle yet.
- The farrier moved or cancelled. If you booked the visit (step 4), tap its date on the horse's row to open the Planned visit. Change the Date and tap Save, or tap Cancel visit.
- A recorded visit is wrong. In Done, tap Correct to fix what it covered, who did it or the note; Change the date is in the same panel. Undo takes it back (the confirmation tells you what will happen).
What happens by itself
- Ticking a horse off moves its next due date on by its interval, and the horse moves to the right group.
- Every visit you record shows in the horse's Health history on its Care tab.
- Owners get an email (and a push notification, if allowed) before the next farrier, vaccination or worming date, and again if it slips past. For the stable's own horses, the admins get these reminders instead. See Health reminders for when they go out.
- A cost recorded with Owner as the payer is added to that owner's bill.
- On the task board, a number beside Health shows how many farrier, vaccination and worming jobs are due this round.
