By the end of this week your stable is set up in Nose, your regular week is on the schedule, your riders can see their own rides, and you've taken payment for a real lesson. It's about an hour and a half of work, spread over a few short sittings.
Stage 1 · Set up your stable · about 10 minutes
The first time you sign in, Nose asks how you'll use it. Choose I run a stable, then Start from a sample: turning typical rides and prices into your own is quicker than filling blank forms.
Setup has six steps: Stable basics, Working hours, Rides & prices, Your team, Your horses and Open the stable. If anyone else teaches with you, invite them in Your team so you can put them on rides. Out of time? Save & quit keeps what you've saved; finish the rest later from the normal menus.
Your first setup walks through each step.
Stage 2 · Check your prices and places · about 15 minutes
Open Settings and look over what setup created:
- Pricing: every ride type's price in one grid. Under Customer prices, click a price in the Base price row to change it.
- Ride types: the length and colour of each type, and which days it runs.
- General: your opening hours sit under Hours & calendar.
- Locations: add your arenas or trails if you want to pick one for each ride. You can skip this; a ride doesn't need a location.
Stage 3 · Check your horses · about 5 minutes
Open Horses and add any horse you skipped in setup with Add horse. If a horse isn't working this week, set its Status to Resting and Nose won't offer it for rides. Set it back to Active when it's working again.
Stage 4 · Put one real week on the schedule · about 20 minutes
Don't enter the whole term. Enter one ordinary week, the way it really runs.
- Open Schedule and click an empty slot, or Add ride.
- Fill in the ride type, the instructor, the start time and how many riders it takes.
- Open Repeat and choose Weekly.
- Click Add ride. Nose creates the series and tells you about any dates it skipped, such as a closed day.
Do this for each regular slot. Creating and editing rides covers the rest of the form.
Stage 5 · Get your riders in · about 15 minutes
Having a Nose account doesn't make anyone a member of your stable. You bring them in. Start with your regulars:
- Open People and select Add person.
- Type their full name and their email. The customer role is already ticked.
- Leave Give app access ticked and select Add person.
They get an email with a link. One click on Accept invitation and they're in, with no password to set. For riders who don't need the app, untick Give app access: you can still book them and take their payments.
Want new riders to join on their own? In Settings → Booking & cancellation, turn on Show public schedule and then Let visitors sign in or join, and share your link. Getting your riders in has every route, and what to do when someone can't get in.
Stage 6 · Check out your first ride · about 10 minutes
On the day of a real lesson:
- Open the ride and go to the Allocate & Settle tab.
- Add anyone missing with + Add rider, and give each rider a horse.
- Click the wallet button next to a rider and choose how they paid. For Cash or Card, check the amount and select Confirm payment. For Pass/voucher, pick their pass from the list.
- Do the same for everyone. When you're done, the line at the top reads all settled.
Stage 7 · Sell your first pass · about 10 minutes
Add the passes you sell in Settings → Passes with Add preset: the name, how many rides, how long it's valid and the price. Then sell one from Passes with Issue pass. At check-out, choose Pass/voucher, and one ride comes off the pass. If the ride has already started, you'll often find a rider with a pass already settled: Nose used their pass for you.
Sell and honour a pass takes it from there.
You're live when…
- Your regular week is on the schedule and repeats every week.
- Your regulars have accepted their invitations and see their own rides.
- At least one ride reads all settled.
- One rider has paid for a ride with a pass.
Leave this for later
None of this is needed in week one.
- Paying instructors: how each instructor is paid is set in Settings → Compensation, and you settle up at the end of the month. See Close your month.
- Online payments: cash and card at the yard work from day one. See Balance and online payments when you're ready.
- Gift vouchers: see Sell gift vouchers.
- Boarding: only if you keep other people's horses. See Take on a boarder.
