Clock, corrections and days off

For yard staff: start and stop the clock, fix a time, see your rota and ask for a day off.

ForHelpersInstructors

On this page

This page is for the people who work in the yard: grooms, helpers, and instructors who also do yard work. Once the stable has turned on the Rota and put you on the team, you get a clock card where you already work, and Rota in the menu.

The clock: Start and Stop

The Your duty today card sits at the top of the Care board and of the Rota page. It shows your shifts for today. Riding or keeping a horse here too? Then it is also at the top of the page you land on when you open the stable: Dashboard or My horses.

  1. Tap Start when you begin work. The card shows the time you started and how long you've been working.
  2. Tap Stop when you finish.
  3. Back for the evening shift? Tap Start again — each stretch is its own entry.

Your rides count by themselves, straight from the schedule: use the clock for the yard work. If the clock runs during a ride, that time is counted once, not twice.

Paid per shift? The card says so: the clock keeps things tidy, but your hours don't change the amount.

Fix a time on the card

Started late, or forgot to tap Stop on time? Tap the time on the card — it opens your phone's time picker. Pick the right time; it's saved when you leave the field or press Enter (Escape puts the old one back). If a time can't be saved, the card shows Not saved. and keeps your time on screen.

Forgot to stop the clock?

Nose closes a clock left running once the day is over: at the end of your last shift that day, at 21:00 if you had no shift, or at midnight if you started after 21:00. The next time you open the card it asks When did work really end? — tap … is right, or tap the time and fix it. Either way the owner checks that entry before the day can be paid.

Rota

Tap Rota in the menu.

  • My week — your shifts and hours, day by day. Tap a day up to today to see its details.
  • This week and last month — your hours and shifts, and your own amount for last month. It's an estimate: the owner settles the final amount.
  • My day-off requests — what you asked for and whether it's still waiting for a decision.
  • The stable’s rota — the whole week for everyone, to read.

You see your own amount only, never anyone else's. Helpers see only their own hours; instructors also see the helpers' hours (below).

Correct or add your time

Open one of your days (from My week, or by tapping your time on the stable's rota):

  • Fix an entry — change the times and say why. The reason and the old version stay in the history the owner sees.
  • Add an entry by hand — for time you didn't clock.
  • Restore previous — undoes a fix you made yourself. The undone fix stays in the entry's history, struck through and marked undone, and counts for nothing.

You can change your time until the owner pays the day. After that the day is locked and Nose says: "This day is already settled. Ask the owner to change it." Time for a day that hasn't happened yet can't be typed in, and an entry ends on the same day: working past midnight is two entries.

For instructors: the helpers' time

As an instructor you also keep the helpers' time, including people without an account in Nose. Open a helper's day on the stable's rota and use Add an entry by hand or Fix, as you would for your own time. Each entry shows who typed it, and the owner pays the day. You never see what anyone is paid, and you can't change another instructor's time.

Rota is in your menu even if you aren't on the team yourself.

Ask for a day off

  1. On the Rota page, tap Ask for a day off.
  2. Pick the dates (From, To) — today at the earliest.
  3. Choose The whole day or Some shifts, and tick the shifts.
  4. Add a reason if you like. It's optional, only admins see it, and it's no place for health details.
  5. Tap Send request.

The owner sees the request in Requests and decides. You get a notification with the answer, and an approved day shows as day off on your rota.

Notifications

With push notifications on, you hear about changes to your rota in the next seven days, and about the answers to your day-off requests. Turn the Rota topic off in your notification settings if you'd rather not.
